SR: You have been touring Russia some time ago and your performances were absolutely successful. You might be one of the most popular bands of your kind in Russia. How do you feel – why it happens?
UDO: WHAT CAN I SAY – WE LOVE TO PLAY IN RUSSIA
SR: Your band members seem to be like best friends to each other, your work on stage is so unbelievably harmonious. When you were looking for the band members, what were the main priorities, the human and musician’s qualities you’ve been paying attention to?
UDO: YES – FIRST THE HUMAN SIDE AND THEN THE MUSICIAN SIDE
SR: What art’s theme subjects seem to be important, interesting and actual for you nowadays? The subject of war, love or what?
UDO: PEACE
SR: By the way, how can we separate the war for the better cause from the massacre? The humanity is at war throughout the whole history time, and meanwhile we did not get rid of wars. How do you define the reasons of war – where does it comes from? Million of people kill each other and still everyone insists that he’s right. How do you answer to this question according to your lifestyle, vision of the world?
UDO: WE TRY TO WRITE SOMETHING AGAINST THIS IN OUR LYRICS
SR: Are you an Internet user?if so, what attracts you the most in world wide web?
UDO: I’M NOT A REAL INTERNET USER – I USE IT MORE FOR INFORMATION
SR: It’s the fact that Russia has two disasters – the roads and the fools. You have been travelling a lot across our country, so in your own opinion – what is the real problem with Russia?
UDO: YES – THE ROADS ARE BAD AND TO MUCH WODKA
SR: Tell us about German heavy metal music scene? What is it like now? Do you have any favorite artists which you think are really talented and interesting to you?
UDO: THE GERMAN METAL SCENE IS VERY STRONG – WE HAVE A LOT OF GOOD BANDS A VERY GOOD BAND FOR ME AT THE MOMENT IS CALLED MAJESTY
SR: Do you expect the heavy metal music to be on top again like it used to be in early 80s? What does it depend on?
UDO: I DONT THINK METAL WILL BE THAT BIG AT IT WAS AT THE 80S BUT THIS MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE
SR: Being on stage is being an actor. Though we have noticed that you feel yourself unbelievably comfortable being in front of thousand people, so it made us feel that you’re completely the same at home – in the military clothes, strong, and bending own line despite of everything. There are almost no falseness and affectedness in your scenic image. In your opinion, which image is most applicable to the musicians playing heavy metal? All of us get used that it is associated with leather and chains. By maybe it’s a stereotype.
UDO: AT HOME I THINK I’M NOT THE SAME PERSON LIKE ON STAGE
SR: It’s a historical fact that heavy metal music is so close to the bikers’ culture. How do you relate to this? IN A WAY IS CLOSE TO BIKERS
UDO: Do your songs have a reflection of this subject? NO
SR: Do you have a motorbike? If yes, then which one?
NO
SR: what would you like to wish to those who’s eager to become musicians?
UDO: BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING
