American composer Cal has within a short period of time managed to re-define the boundaries between contemporary classical and new age music. Capturing the hearts of listeners around the globe by offering a unique blend of “symphonic ambience,” he has created a style all his own which, judging by the success of “Horizon,” his debut CD, has filled a broad gap on today’s musical menu.
A self taught musician, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the composer, a former New York City police officer in Harlem’s 32nd Precinct, has had his music featured on American television as well as radio stations around the world. His debut CD, “Horizon,” was entered in the 2001 GRAMMY Awards competition under the “Best New Age Album” category.
Now retired from the NYPD and living in upstate New York with his wife Victoria and their two daughters, Cal is composing full time and preparing for a series of “live” performances this fall as well as the release of “Forever,” his new CD scheduled for release January 2005.
